My name is Gyula Szabolcs Fekete, I work with remote sensors and GIS. We specialize in the automatic survey of urban trees and the optimization of green space with the help of artificial intelligence – typically for large cities, internationally.

I first came across Adománytaxi at a sociopoly lecture about 3-4 years ago, where a sociologist working in the field recommended the organization. The Taxi is an initiative that builds bridges between donors and those in need in segregated areas in a a very efficient and transparent manner.

I believe that service is the duty of everyone, in accord with their circumstances and abilities. I strongly believe in this as a practicing member of the Reformed Church. My wife, Zsófi, and I wanted to help with our time, donations, and resources in a way that can be traced, and Adománytaxi provides an excellent forum for this. We have a very good relationship with the founder, Tomi Horn, and having driven an electric car for six years, we can collect donations and deliver them to target areas in an environmentally friendly way.

In this way, we strengthen the “taxi” part of the organization; we typically collect 30-35 bags of donations from 10-12 addresses in one run with our electric car and we also try to take part in distribution trips to the countryside. This is sometimes not an easy task with two young children (2.5 and 4.5 years old).

The fact that the path of donations can be traced so transparently, that we can meet those in need in person and get first-hand information about the real situation from the leaders of local organizations is a very great value. Lately, we also take children to these segregated areas so they can see that the world can be different from what they have come to know, and so that they value what they have better.

The volunteers and staff of the Taxi are all fantastic, open-minded people who are willing to help actively, and such a community is invaluable.
