I do not believe that grand ideas and ideologies shape society in a purely top-down manner. I don’t believe in politics or the politicians who are meant to represent us. I do not believe that large public institutional systems are flawless, much less that they solve problems instead of us, do justice, or reduce inequalities.Basically, I don’t believe that others will solve problems instead of us. Be they individuals, institutions, or organizations.Nevertheless, I’m not a pessimist. But the truth is, if we don’t act to accomplish certain things, proactively and with the right degree of  enthusiasm, then what are we expecting? Adománytaxi will not solve our problems either – it does a much more important thing: it involves us, it makes us part of it, it activates us. I am fortunate because I have been able to follow the life of this organization from the beginning.Of course, knowledgeable people are aware that there is poverty – we read about it in the newspaper, we think we understand, we know. Yet those who don’t have the courage to experience it first hand by going out there, talking to people, getting to know them up close – they have no idea. For them, this remains an abstraction. This is also true for me. Although I have worked with Adománytaxi, I am in a fortunate position because poverty is still just an abstraction for me. I am honored that the organization has asked me to become the ambassador of this noble cause. I don’t know if I am up to the task, but it will definitely help me break out of my bubble sometimes and maybe there will be a few people I can advise on the several ways that are available to help.
